All the hard work the students put in paid off for them when their results were released last week, with seven students achieving a Band 6, nine receiving a Band 5 and three securing a Band 4.
Music teacher Terry Wild said the music class of 2017 had achieved extraordinary results in the HSC.
“More than 60 per cent of the students scored their best marks in the subject of music,” he said.
“These talented students were absolutely amazing and performed to an exceptionally high standard.”
The dedicated class was taught over the years by a team of three teachers: Louise Luke, Graham Deans and Terry Wild.
“Marks like these are not achieved overnight, and are the result of teaching and rehearsing the students since they were in Year 7, both inside and outside class time,” Mr Wild said.
“Many of the students also gave up their own time to perform in the bands and vocal group.”
Mr Wild said Kiama High School had been a long-time supporter of the creative and performing arts.
“Without this support results like these would not be possible,” Mr Wild said.
“Our school values life-long learning, and it is our job to nurture and encourage our students in all areas of the curriculum, so our students become well-rounded people who can face the challenges of the world.”
