Kiama High School year 10 student, Daisy Pring, is counting down the days until the end of term, but unlike many of her classmates it is not because she is looking forward to taking it easy.

The talented 15-year-old singer will be busy as she embarks on intensive featured performer rehearsals for the 2018 Schools Spectacular.
For Daisy, whose ambition is to make it in pop music, achieving a coveted place as a featured performer is a dream come true.
Although she has watched the Schools Spectacular on television for as long as she can remember, last year was the first ‘real thing’ when she performed in SpecFest, the entertainment zone outside the main arena.
“I’ve always wanted to be part of it, I can’t believe that I am,” she said.
“I’m so excited and feel really honoured and proud that I’ve made it.”
Having seen the heights performers reach, Daisy is under no illusion about how hard she will need to work at the intensive sessions during the holidays and throughout next term in the lead up to the shows on November 23-24.
“I think I’ll need to maintain composure and not get overwhelmed because it is crazy big, but it is what I love doing, so it will be worth it,” Daisy said.
Daisy will be part of the entertainment extravaganza that has cemented itself as one of the most anticipated events on the state’s arts calendar, and in 2016 was named the Guinness World Record holder for the Largest Amateur Variety Act in the world.
Schools Spectacular Creative Director, Sonja Sjolander is confident this year’s 35th Schools Spectacular will live up to its name – ‘The Greatest’.
“This year’s show is shaping up to be one of the best yet,” Ms Sjolander said.
