It has been a busy couple of weeks and things show no sign of slowing down, so we are grateful that we are such a big club so the load can be shared.
On Saturday, November 4, we prepared nourishment for the Relay for Life Day participants at Black Beach. The weather dampened the spirits a bit but everyone appreciated our hot food, especially the sweet potato chips!
Last week we had two teams working at Kembla Grange for the Melbourne Cup, one on the day cleaning up glasses and another helping to clean up the following morning.
This Tuesday the 14th, we host the annual VIP lunch at the CWA Hall for those unfortunate enough to be visually impaired.
We are most grateful to the Kiama Quilters who donated $500 towards our Cancer Care Fund.
We will be donating 20 of our delicious Christmas Cakes to the Denny Foundation who prepare festive hampers to give to less fortunate families in the area who are really doing it tough.
Our caravan will be at the markets as usual on November 19 --hope to see you there.
KIAMA ROTARY
November is Rotary Foundation Month when we focus attention on the history and work undertaken by Rotary’s major humanitarian fund.
The mission of The Rotary Foundation is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty.
The foundation celebrated its 100th anniversary earlier this year and during that time, the Foundation has spent over $3 billion on life-changing, sustainable projects. The largest is its polio eradication project where 99.9 percent of all international polio cases have been wiped out.
We had a very enjoyable dinner with family and friends at Kiama Golf Club last week and had all hands on deck with Gerringong Rotary for the Kiama Car Spectacular in support of Melanoma research at the Showground on the weekend.
Next weekend we will run our famous barbeque at the Kiama Seaside Markets in support of our various humanitarian projects, including the Rotary Foundation.
Kiama CWA
