Kiama Downs SLSC results are as follows:
- Ivy Miller – 5th under 11s surf race.
- Miller Siasat – 2nd under 9s sprint.
- Mischa Boniface – 1st under 12s flags and 2nd in the under 12s sprint.
- Lani Cairncross – 4th in the under 8s flags, wade and sprint.
The water area for the under 8s, 9s and 10s was closed due to the dangerous surf conditions, which was a missed opportunity for the club’s younger competitors, who notched up good results in round 1 of the series at Shellharbour.
A few of the competitors were dealt a heavy blow by the pounding waves and did not get the results they were aiming for.
“They will continue to train hard and are determined to make a come back at round 3 at Woonona in a few weeks,” a Kiama Downs SLSC spokesperson said.
“Mischa Boniface and Miller Siasat are still sitting in excellent positions to make podium finishes at the end of the series.”
The 2017 Sydney Water Surf Series is celebrating its 16th year.
From humble beginnings, it has developed into a strong based competition series with competitors from all over NSW coming along to race.
The series caters for Under 8’s right through to Masters in surf/craft and beach individual events with close to 1200 athletes competing last season in the series.
Round 3 of the Sydney Water Surf Series will take place at Woonona SLSC on Saturday, November 25.
