Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Primary School hosted the event, which provided future students with the chance to spend time in the classroom, make new friends and prepare for school and learning.
Parents and carers were also able to tour the school, ask questions and meet the staff.
“Come and try big school has been an initiative of Ss Peter and Paul for the last two years,” principal Jacqueline Lee said.
The purpose is to allow them the time to engage within a classroom setting, so that when they start school they’re more familiar with the way school works and that for their wellbeing the classroom environment is a less daunting place.

“It is for any child within the area, they don’t need to be coming to school here.

Mrs Lee said the afternoon event also gave families an opportunity to engage with the school environment.
“Often parents haven’t had an opportunity to do that since they were at school,” she said.
“You don’t need to be enrolled at our school, we just see it as a real service to the community.”
Enrolments are accepted all year round. Contact the school office by phone or in person to put your child’s name on the enrolment list and you will be sent an enrolment form.
Alternatively, you can download an enrolment form on the school website. For more information visit www.ssppdow.catholic.edu.au.
