Superintendent Joe Cassar and Superintendent Kyle Stewart are among the group of new assistant commissioners, who according to Commissioner Mick Fuller, bring a dynamic mix of youth, investigative, operational and corporate experience across regional and metropolitan NSW and specialist commands.
Supt. Cassar has been appointed Assistant Commissioner, Capability, Performance and Youth Command and Supt. Stewart Assistant Commissioner, Operational Communication and Information Command.
They join superintendents Tony Crandell, Karen Webb and Mark Walton in the new roles.
“These five diverse individuals have decades of experience across all areas of policing and bring new focus, energy and ideas to the executive level of the force,” Commissioner Fuller said.
“The new assistant commissioners will help shape the future of the organisation in this evolving environment, ensuring our focus remains on community service, disruption and prevention of crime and responding to incidents.
“The appointments are another step in the re-engineering process of NSW Police, enhancing the capability of the current structure into more dynamic commands.”
Supt. Stewart joined the NSW Police Force in 1985 as a general duties officer in Maroubra before moving into investigations across regional NSW in Cowra, Gunnedah and Moree.
He was later the Crime Manager at Barwon and then Commander at Shoalhaven and Wollongong.
Before his promotion to Assistant Commissioner, Mr Stewart was relieving as the Acting Assistant Commissioner at the Major Events Incident Group.
Supt. Cassar joined the NSW Police Force in 1987 working first as a general duties officer in Goulburn and Wollongong before joining investigations in Southern Region.
He later worked as a criminal investigator in Homicide, Drugs Squad and Child Abuse Squad before being promoted to Superintendent in 2011 and Shoalhaven LAC Commander.
Before his promotion to Assistant Commissioner, Mr Cassar was Wollongong LAC Commander.
