Director of engineering and works, Gino Belsito, said Council would be able to provide an extra 73 car parking spaces at the Centre.
“We’ve had strong community feedback that there’s a lack of parking at the centre on weekends, especially when there’s a number of sporting fixtures on,” Mr Belsito said.
“Council has now identified 73 new car spaces both along the western side of the Leisure Centre and also next to the skate park.”
Mr Belsito said work on the new car parking spaces would begin in September, once the current netball season had finished.
Mr Belsito said the NSW Health Infrastructure had agreed to provide funding for the new car parks, as part of arrangement for the building of a new ambulance station next to the netball courts.
“I’d like to thank NSW Health Infrastructure for what is a significant contribution to the cost of providing the extra car parking,” he said.
“I’d also like to thank the Kiama Netball Association and the Kiama District Sports Association for their help during the negotiations.”
