The film was shot on a property at the foothills around Saddleback Mountain, and featured the acting talents of the Shoalhaven’s Henry Goodall and Caroline Minnear.
“Without the grant, the film clip probably wouldn't have happened, so we can't say a big enough thanks to Kiama Council – cultural grants like these are really vital to bands like Salty, where we self-fund everything we do,” Salty guitarist and vocalist Glen Colley said.
“Last year we put our resources into recording our debut album 100 Fallen Stars, which didn't leave a lot of wriggle room for other things like a good quality film clip to promote the album.”
Without giving the game away completely, the clip also nods to the fact that this whole band thing we're doing is just big boys playing with their toys. Henry Goodall nails it – part Wolf Creek and part naughty little boy.

The film was directed and shot by the experienced Brian Dyer of PER Images.
“We could always have done a home-made video, but the grant meant we were able to work with a quality director and produce something really professional looking,” Mr Colley said.
“We tried to make a clip that showed the band performing, but had something else going on to keep the audience engaged.
“Brian had the idea of a low-lit character lurking around behind the band – intense and mysterious – and not quite clear just what he was up to. We wanted it to fit the darker tone of the song. but not be too self-absorbed, so there is a bit of humour in there too.

The song was taken from their debut album 100 Fallen Stars, which was recorded last year with legendary Nowra based sound master Syd Green.
“Our sound is hard to pin down,” Mr Colley said.
“The Shakedown is a moody, blues and roots tune in the mould of Nick Cave – with some added banjo twang.
“However, we have three songwriters in the band, which means our sound is pretty varied. We have quite a few tunes of a similar vibe to the Shakedown but the rest are a mix of upbeat folk, ska and You Am I style rock and roll into the mix – it certainly keeps it interesting!”
