As round 3 kicked off, 2015 champion Russel Campbell defeated 2011 champion Craig Rolls 31-25.
Mick Weir continued his good form with a 31-17 drubbing of Steve Wills. Club president Martin Wilson outlasted Damien Loone 31-17. Adam Rodgers defeated Tom Hodgson 31-25. Mick Ganderton produced a third round shock, defeating three-time winner Brad Rossiter 31-23 and also beat 2016 Minor Singles finalist Paul Bragaa 31-21 to make the last eight.
The performance of the weekend was Andrew Stewart, who defeated Craig Coleman 31-25 before handing Brad Hair a 31-11 defeat in round 3 to make the quarter-finals for the first time.
In Minor Singles, Nathan Boys produced the shock of the tournament defeating title favourite Noel Creighton 31-26 in a thriller. Boys led by as many as 10 early, before Creighton fought back to make it all square at 26-26. Boys won the next two ends to take the victory.
