I have been working in Kiama and Jamberoo for the past two years and have settled into Kiama with my first personal business adventure as the director of Endota Day Spa.
How does Kiama differ from your hometown?
Kiama and surrounding areas and my hometown have some similarities and some very different aspects.
I grew up in the middle of Canada on the prairies, similar to Jamberoo, and moved to the Rocky Mountains, similar to Kiama.
While the landscapes, temperatures and scenery are vastly different, the values of the people both here and in Canada are very similar with honesty and integrity being important to both communities.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I believe that hobbies and passion combine the law of balance and the nurturing of our souls. Wellness and calmness is a state of mind very important to me.
I enjoy dining out locally, visiting the wineries, days on the beach, walks in the national parks and our modern family.
What are some fun facts people don't know about you?
Fun facts about me, I have lived and worked for 20 years in the Australian Ski Fields, managing hotels, lodges and resorts. I have acquired a deep passion for snowboarding. Preferring the cooler temperatures make winter swims a must.
It may not be generally known but my rescue cat ‘Nachoes’ enjoys a walk with me once a week.
What is your favourite thing about the region?
My favourite aspects about Kiama are the Farmers Market, and driving to and from work, as I arrive into Kiama admiring Bombo Beach and on the way home thrill to the uniqueness of the rolling hills and the escarpment.
What do you think makes the region unique?
Kiama gives me the feeling of being a part of a community, which is enriched by amazing and interesting people from many backgrounds who have brought their cultures to the area.
There seems to be a willingness to support each other and our shared values. Thank you, I’m so pleased we have settled near this welcoming, amazing little gem called Kiama.
