Just before 1am, police stopped a white Toyota Hilux on Kangaloon Road in Bowral for a roadside breath test.
The test was negative, but police officers noted the man appeared nervous and after more discussions they searched his vehicle and found a bag containing cannabis.
The 20-year-old was arrested and charged with possessing a prohibited drug. He will face Moss Vale Local Court in May.
Car found alight in Moss Vale
Investigations are underway after an abandoned car was found on fire in Moss Vale on April 2.
Moss Vale Fire and Rescue NSW was called to Yarrawa Road just after 7am, following reports of a car fire.
When the team arrived, the four-door sedan was engulfed in flames on the road shoulder. The car appeared to be abandoned, and no-one was at the scene when fire crews arrived.
The fire was extinguished and the Moss Vale crew handed the scene over to police about 7.40am.
Homemade explosive found in Bowral
Police have issued a stern warning about homemade explosives after a small blast in Bowral.
About 7.30pm on Sunday, April 2, police were called to a vacant yard in Merrigang Street.
A family was in their home near the vacant yard when they heard a loud explosion.
They followed the direction of the sound and found a few aerosol cans had been taped together, and had exploded.
Bowral Police Inspector John Klepczarek said homemade explosives could have deadly consequences.
“Police take these offences very seriously,” he said. “We are very keen to speak to anyone with information about who built the device, or put it in the yard.”
Inspector Klepczarek said it was fortunate no-one had been hurt when the cans exploded, as shrapnel from such blasts could be incredibly dangerous.
“These type of homemade explosives can injure the person putting it together, the shrapnel can injure people and also damage property,” he said.
Anyone with information about the incident should call Bowral Police on 4862 9299.
