Occupation: I work as an artist and muralist.
Suburb: Kiama.
Hometown: Sydney.
Hobbies: I enjoy playing bass guitar, collecting records and listening to jazz music and all of its sub-genres, as well as watching old movies.
Fun fact about me: I worked for 20 years as a secondary teacher, teaching art and history. I'm a big dog lover and have studied history, as well as various cultures and their customs over the years.
My favourite thing about the area is: That it is close enough to everything while also being far enough away from many things.
If you have a want to just get away for a while you don't have to go far to do that - we have it all, and living where people desire to annually come for holidays and perhaps retire to one day is something I do not take for granted. It's where the mountains meet the sea, where else would you want to be?
What makes the area unique: I would say it is its sense of community, its awareness of its self. How people pull together here in times of trouble and need, supporting events and people, is something great to constantly see.
You can see this at work through the many community groups, surf clubs, churches and council run initiatives that pull people together and seek to bring awareness to many things. This community also has a strong voice when it chooses to speak, which is something I tremendously value.
