The event on Thursday, February 2 will be held at Hooka Point Reserve in Berkeley from 9am-2pm.
Revive Our Wetlands is a national initiative that will expand CVA’s role engaging communities to conserve wetlands and their catchments for nature and people.
“We are actively involved in restoring Hooka Point and are looking forward to commencing this project, trialling methods of saltmarsh restoration in our own iconic Lake Illawarra,’’ CVA Illawarra regional manager Adam Woods said.
“This work will help restore the ecosystem function of this area and contribute to better water quality for our fish stocks, internationally significant shorebirds and recreational users alike.’’
The event is on World Wetlands Day, which celebrates the signing of the international Convention on Wetlands in the Iranian city of Ramsar on February 2, 1971.
