We had a very good market last weekend and were able to sell almost all of our produce. Days like that are what we need to keep of coffers topped up so that we can contribute more to local causes like our Cancer Care Fund.
Congratulations to Lion Bob Gray who was nominated as a Finalist in the Kiama Citizen of the Year for the second year running in the Australia Day awards. Bob has been a stalwart of Kiama Lions for many years and the success of our Driver Reviver program is down to him.
We are now starting our selection process for young folks to go on the Outward Bound Leadership Course in April. We will be interviewing prospective candidates over the next few weeks. This course has been a life-changing experience for many youngsters over the years. It is normally for people in years 10 and 11.
Our next dinner meeting will be on Wednesday, January 25.
The guest speaker will talk about the raising of the Tudor warship the Mary Rose and the amazing artefacts recovered.
KIAMA ROTARY
Kiama Rotary will hold its annual Australia Day barbeque at Coronation Park, Surf Beach on the morning of January 26. We will be getting an early start and should be ready to start serving hot breakfasts by about 7.30am.
Kiama council will provide entertainment for the children including a jumping castle and face painting. It is always a fun way to kick start Australia Day celebrations.
December-January has been a very busy period for the club and we are looking forward to getting back into a more regular routine in February. Activities included: The club’s AGM, opening of the new Saddleback Mountain Southern Viewing Platform, Rotary Christmas Party, Easts Beach barbeque, New Year’s Eve barbeque, 26th Annual Antiques and Retro Fair, Australia Day Breakfast barbeque and two Seaside Market barbecues.
As you can see, we are a very active club and have a lot of fun while serving our local community.
