While taking his dog for a walk in Italy, 18-year-old Mr Bonomi first laid eyes on a young lady that would change his life.
“I first saw [Almerina] while she was playing skip rope,” he said.
“It was only a couple of years later and we decided to get married even though it was not OK with her parents, but they had to accept it because we said we would run away.”
All these years later, Mr Bomani said their marriage is full of love and joy.
“We just love each other,” he said. “We are one person.”
For Mrs Bonomi, being together for 65 years has built an unbreakable bond.
“After so many years, I know what he is thinking and he knows what I am thinking,” she said.
“That is just what happens when you spend so long with someone you love.”
Mr and Mrs Bonami celebrated at The Fraternity Club.
