The long term vision of the Robo Rebels is to bring together members of the local business community, education providers and others to create a regional technology hub in southeast NSW.
Team mentor and teacher Christina Potts said; "We have received generous support from the local community and are focussed on developing skills in technology, design and communication in our students that will build the skill base of our town and hopefully increase job opportunities to retain young people in our area."
The Robo Rebels have a business plan that revolves around self funding their activities through provision of robotics workshops for Primary School students.
"We focus on developing leadership skills in our students by encouraging them to deliver the workshops and also engage in the organisation and promotion of these activities,” said Gayle Allison lead mentor and teacher at Narooma High School.
“Both our senior and junior teams have worked hard to raise enough funds to purchase our robots, our tools and cover competition entry costs,” she said.
The upcoming Expo is an opportunity to thank local sponsors and showcase the activities of the team. A photo display has been set up in the old shoe shop under the dome in the Plaza.
The Robo Rebels will be running a workshop with Lego EV3 robots from 10am at a cost of $15 per person. Anyone interested can register online at Eventbrite.com, or enter 'Narooma' into the location search box to find this event.
