On Thursday, September 1, Kiama Rotary will help organise and run the annual Rotary Youth Driver Awareness (RYDA) training program at Kembla Grange Racecourse. Kiama High School Year 11 students will participate once again in this very worthwhile project.
RYDA is an initiative that the Rotary clubs of the Illawarra run annually for local high school students who are about to gain their licence. The program provides information from the police, paramedics and victims of road accidents. It also provides a braking demonstration that shows the difference in stopping distances when driving at 40km/h or 60km/h.

KIAMA LIONS
We had a successful market last week and the new layout of the stalls is becoming settled. The weather was perfect and our doughnut makers seemed to be very busy. Some of our Lions helped with the Show Society's stand as they were borrowing our equipment. It demonstrates the spirit of co-operation that makes this town such a special place.
Our installation and dismantling of the Art show stands went well. This is something we do every year. It is a little easier these days with the replacement stands.
The next dinner meeting will be back at the Leagues Club and our guest speaker will be a Qantas A380 pilot who will regale us with tales about operating such a large aircraft.
Don’t forget the Hot Rod show on Sunday, September 11 at Black Beach, we are told that lots of cars are coming. There will be a gold coin donation to see the cars with all proceeds going to Lions local charities.
KIAMA CWA
We will be celebrating our 78th birthday at our next meeting on Tuesday, September 20, 12.30pm for a 1pm start at the CWA Hall at the rear of 70 Shoalhaven Street. Our theme will be the Roaring Twenties, so dress up for this special day. Our special guest speaker is Michelle Hall from the NSW Education Department who will speak on Indigenous Education. Visitors and new members are most welcome.
