Member for Kiama Gareth Ward said the funding will go towards the installation of a retractable shade system at the club.
“The installation of this shade system will provide additional comfort for patrons and visitors to the club who compete on the bowling greens,” he said.
Mike Yalden from Kiama Bowling Club welcomed the funding.
“Bowlers at the Kiama Bowling and Recreation Club will feel cooler and safer with the installation of new sunshades at the club,” he said.
“This welcome addition to the playing area will help protect bowlers from the harmful effects of the sun and we are grateful for the efforts of our local Member of Parliament Gareth Ward in securing the funds to enable this project to proceed.
“As a not-for-profit sporting and recreation club the Kiama Bowling Club meets many challenges in ensuring that players of all ages are protected from the harmful effects of prolonged exposure to the sun.
“Sunshades are a vital part of our efforts… It will be an important addition to our commitment to the health and safety of our players and it would not have been possible without the generous assistance of this grant.”
