Kiama and District Historical Society will welcome Gerry McInerney as their guest speaker.
This week’s front page star, Mr McInerney will present his Once A Kid From Narrabri talk on Saturday, August 6 at 2.30pm in the Family History Centre.
This will be a joint meeting with the Friends of Kiama Library.
Kiama pharmacist Mr McInerney, 75, recently received the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia’s 2016 New South Wales Lifetime Achievement Award.
In January 2015, Mr McInerney was named Kiama Citizen of the Year.
He has recently published his memoir, a copy of which will be presented to Kiama Library.
The chapters ‘Working in the Illawarra’ and ‘Settling Down in Kiama’ contain insights about Kiama and region from the 50-plus years in which Mr McInerney has lived and worked there.
He gave a talk to a KDHS meeting a few years ago regarding the history of pharmacies in Kiama.
