Kiama Power welcomed the Figtree Kangaroos at Bonaira Oval in their round 11 South Coast AFL match. Injuries and players unavailable, meant there were nine changes to the Division One senior team from last week’s match. With this many changes the Power side didn’t start well and against the fired-up Kangaroos outfit who were playing for a finals spot, the 6th placed visitors went into the halftime break with a very impressive 19 point lead.

Coach Bryce O’Connor made some important changes during the break and the Power came out a better side in the 3rd quarter. Although keeping their opponent’s goalless they could only close on the halftime score by 5 points and were still down 14 points at three quarter time.
In the last quarter the Power side, although still not playing the style of football they wanted, dug deep and chased down the Kangaroos’ lead and with ten minutes remaining in the match led for the first time.
Keeping the Kangaroos goalless in the second half the Power went on to win the match by 20 points. Josh Walton who was moved to the backline in the second half was best on field, while Tom Williams, Ben Hoctor and Josh Mason played well.
