ROYAL RANDWICK
Rail Position: Out 9m entire
Track Condition: Soft 7
Track Type: Turf
Weather: Fine
Overs:
Race 5 - FAROLITOS @ $6
Good effort last start when second to Pirate Ben carrying a big weight over the same course and distance. Third-up now and nearing peak fitness with a good trial performance between the runs. Appears well suited down in the weights and looks to map well from the middle draw, allowing him to peg the leaders back doing minimal work early. Expect him to start around the $4 mark.
Race 7 - METALLIC CROWN @ $6.50
Gutsy effort to box on and beaten only under two lengths after being trapped three-wide without cover. Fourth-up now and rock hard fit and finds a race he can roll forward with minimal pace and control. Expect him to start around the $4.50 mark.
Unders:
Race 2 - CONCHITA @ $5.50
Returned with a strong fresh win, but felt she was revved up to get the job done and had minimal improvement to come out of the run and got all the favours in a leader dominated race. Meets a much stronger field Saturday with a couple of promising young colts and also not convinced she will run a strong 1200m.
EAGLE FARM
Track condition: Slow 7
Rail position: Out 6m entire course
Weather: Showers
Unders:
Race 6#7 TUCANCHOO @ $2.80
Racing impressively at the minute in easier races than what he meets on Saturday. Big class jump and far too short for my mind.
Overs:
Race 1#1 GRACEFULLY CHIC @ $14.00
Looks big odds for a horse that has form around a couple shorter in the market. Also handles the soft conditions well.
Race 6#2 BENZINI @ $4.00
Simply cannot fathom why this horse isn't favourite. Just has to repeat the effort of his last start to take care of these.
FLEMINGTON
Rail Position: Out 9m entire
Track Condition: Soft 5
Track Type: Turf
Weather: Overcast
Penetrometer: 4.94
Flemington played pretty well last time we were here on a soft track but there were some odd results, odd times and strong form reversals. Hopefully Saturday is a more logical unfolding of play.
I expect that there will be some more isolated showers on the track but it shouldn't be any worse than a soft 5/6 or 'sting out' in the old language.
Overs:
Race 9 – RELDAS @ $13.00/$4.25
Staggering price for a horse with a class advantage over the majority of these. He wasn't far away fresh and had some genuine excuses that day. He's drawn ideally today, 1100m is his perfect distance and is a candidate for the outside fast lane at Flemington. I've marked him $5 and very keen on the early price.
Race 8 – FALAGO @ $9.50/$3.00
These type staying events are normally ones I steer clear of or at least bet down in a touch as form reversals are prominent and the muddling tempos can be very frustrating. However, FALAGO is running very well without luck and this race is certainly not strong by any means. I've marked him $6 and he's a fair price in the interim markets.
Unders:
Race 7 – AWARD OF MERIT @ $3.00
Really keen on Leveraction and Magic Consul here at double figures but they have already been well supported with prices wound in. AWARD OF MERIT brings only ok form from Adelaide and if it wasn't for the punters looking for lightly raced, progressive horses with upside I could see him drifting beyond $5. The race has five chances, they are numbers one through five and they are hard to split. This gelding is a chance but is well under the odds in the early play.
This weekend our High Rollers Tournament has a guaranteed $10,000 cash pool and will increase with every punter that joins. It’s a WINNER TAKES ALL prize too.
