This year won’t be any different with musicians from far and wide to once again descend on Beaches Hotel in Thirroul on June 11-12 to celebrate the music of the one and only Beatles.
For the seventh straight year, The Long & Winding Weekend festival will run over two nights and include more than 70 songs.
Event director Budai said he was amazed how much the event had grown over the years.
“The idea for this event came from a long boisterous conversation about what would be the best 'musical backdrop' to a birthday party. Beatles music was the most requested ... the rest is history,’’ he said.
This year's show will feature another amazing group of musicians converging to celebrate their love for the music of the Beatles. The line-up includes internationally renowned, and home-grown local talent performing the Beatles' classics side by side.
Vocalists include Mitchell Anderson, Kevin Bennett, Greedy Smith, Scott McRae, Toni Swain, Jeremy Edwards, Rockin’ Russ Herriot, Liza Ohlback, Dave Wilkins, Spencer Jones, Genevieve Davis, Christian Power, Brian Gervaise, John Dean, Tim Stead and Greg Willis.
They are joined by master musicians Rex Goh, Harry Brus, Doug Weaver, Chris Alford, Zoltan John Budai and Greg Ohlback.
Local young rockers The Maze will also perform during the festival.
“This show has snowballed into an amazing musical event, whilst still retaining its original concept, of celebrating friendships, and of getting together to play music, which has touched every one of us in some way,’’ Budai said.
‘In 2015 the show presented over 70 songs; a labour of love you could say, but also a chance to challenge ourselves as musicians and singers.’’
The festival starts at 8pm on Saturday, June 11, and 7pm the following day. Tickets cost $15 per day or $20 for both days.
