The 23-year-old decided to give the auditions another shot after bowing out two years ago.
“I let myself down and I didn’t show anyone I know what I was capable of … nerves got in the way last time,” he said.
Previously Mr Lamont sang Keith Urban’s “Once in a Lifetime” but felt it was the wrong choice at the time. Sunday he will try his luck with a Meghan Trainor song.
“I owed it to myself and to people watching to show them what I was really capable of.
“The two years [since the last audition] did a lot for me. I’ve done lots of gigs and I came back with a bit more control in my voice and more certainty in what I can do.”
Irish sensation Ronan Keating has joined the judging panel this year alongside Delta Goodrem, Jessie J, plus Joel and Benji Madden.
Nathan Lamont will appear on The Voice, Sunday night on WIN TV.
