More than 650 entrants swam, rode, ran and conquered various races at the 2016 Batemans Bay Triathlon Festival on April 10.
Nuru Somi of Canberra won the Ultimate half-Ironman – 1.9km swim, 90km ride and 21km run – in four hours, three minutes and 40 seconds, three minutes ahead of Ryan Miller and Emir Mujcinovic followed in third.
Michelle Duffield of WA won the women’s in four hours, 27 minutes and 46 seconds, followed by Liz Vadas and Jessica Richards.
Somi had competed twice before in Batemans Bay and enjoyed the view again.
“The run was scenic,” he said.
“(It) was a really good bike course.
“I’m really happy with it (the win).”
Elite Energy CEO Mark Emerton said the day went well and was rapt with the enthusiasm shown by entrants of all ages.
“(Families) are a big part … adds a good vibe,” he said.
“It was a great day, Sunday morning worked well with Bay’s traffic flow.
‘It was a great to work with the volunteers.”
About half of Eurocoast Triathlon Club’s active members competed at their native event, various Eurobodalla Surf Life Saving Club-based members were on water support and the Clyde River Day View were among local volunteer groups.
