Firstly, organisers the Bermagui Big Game Angling Club sent out a special thanks go out to all who helped over the weekend. Setting up of rooms and banners; briefing night with registrations, bags, folders and their contents, as well as shirts, tickets, and boat draws; barbecue night ; the presentation and dinner; the gantry; and the raffle - all these things involve a lot of organisation and work and every bit of help, whether large or small, is really appreciated by the committee.

Now for the important bit - the fishing! It was terrific to see eight small fry, 16 juniors and 18 females joining the men in this year’s roll-up. There were 80 boats and 288 anglers registered - great support for our club’s annual event. There was a fairly even mix of boats with  43 boats 7.1m and under and 37 boats over 7.1.m.

There were 78 marlin over the whole comp tagged even though conditions on Day 1 were very poor and many small boats did not go out.  

11 of these were tagged by juniors, 11 by females, 60 by males and 1 by a small fry.  

A special mention must go to the crews on these small boats:

Only two marlin were captured over the whole event - Both captures were on Day 2, with one captured by a senior male and the other by a junior angler.

Unfortunately, many of the small fry were disappointed this year with no striped tuna to keep them busy at measure and release.
