Ken and June Banks at Mollymook Beach Waterfront are bubbling with the news that they are the only tourist operator in Australia to score 10 out of 10 this year from guest reviews on the National Star Rating Gold List.
The List is put together by Australian Motoring Services as a national umbrella for State auto clubs including the NRMA.
After verifying a year’s worth of guests’ reviews nationwide in half a dozen categories - hotels, motels, serviced apartments, self catering, hosted accommodation and caravan-holiday parks - the 2015 gold list has just been published.
The top 10 around the country in each category are ranked out of a score of 10, based on reviews their guests give them after their stay, over the space of a year.
“We have about 150 to 170 guests a year and our score was ranked on reviews by 49 of them,” Mr Banks said.
“To get about 30 per cent responses is very good - the ballpark mostly expected in survey feedback in the industry is about 10pc, so this feels huge for us.”
The ranking for Mollymook Beach Waterfront adds to their shower of gold and silver from the annual Australian and NSW Tourism Awards in each of the past six years in the hosted accommodation category, plus one accolade of tourism champion at the Australian Small Business Awards.
Last week they won their third silver in the NSW Awards and said their secret was as much about paying attention to a friendly goodbye as it was to do with welcoming their guests.
Ken says Waterfront’s daily occupancy in the past year included 60 per cent repeat clientele.
