Each year, council sets up a Mayor’s Giving Tree in the foyer of council’s Administration Centre and in Kiama Library.
Residents and organisations can place gifts under either tree for distribution by charities to local children whose families are registered with a charity.
Gifts are welcome for kids aged 0-14 years.
Gifts are particularly required for the 10-14 year age group.
The donations go a long way to bring some Christmas cheer to children living in our community who are in need.
Council asks that gifts remain unwrapped, so that the charities involved can sort them into their appropriate age groups.
Gifts can be donated up until December 10.
After this time, gifts cannot be accepted at either location as gifts will be collected the following day by the charities for distribution.
Mayor Brian Petschler said the Kiama community had generously supported the appeal in the past.
“It’s a really great thing and I hope the community get involved again,” he said.
Council’s administration Centre is located at 11 Manning Street, Kiama.
Kiama Library is located at 7 Railway Parade, Kiama.
