Police are investigating two robberies in Albion Park on Wednesday, which are believed to be linked.
About 11.20am an unknown male offender entered a cafe on Tongarra Road, then allegedly produced a meat cleaver and demanded money from an employee.
He was unsuccessful and immediately left the scene on a motorbike.
A short time later, the same offender entered a laundromat in the same block of shops and demanded money, before allegedly assaulting an employee and taking an amount of cash.
The offender again left the scene on a motorbike.
Police attended and patrolled the area with no sighting of the offender.
Police are appealing to the public to contact Lake Illawarra Police if they have any information that may assist in the investigation of this incident.

Warrawong man charged with armed robbery
It is alleged that about 11pm on September 17, a male victim was at home in Warrawong when the back door of the unit opened and an accused 37-year-old Warrawong man entered.
The accused asked the victim for his car keys which the victim did not hand over.
The accused man then allegedly grabbed the car keys and left the scene in the victim’s car.
About 12.30am on September 25, the victim left his unit and attended the ATM at the Berkeley shopping centre.
The victim withdrew a sum of cash and shortly after headed back towards home.
Shortly after, the victim was allegedly approached by the accused, who was holding a screwdriver.
The accused then demanded money from the victim.
The victim refused and it is further alleged that the accused then grabbed hold of the victim around the neck, threw him to the ground and took the victim’s wallet.
About 9.40pm on Wednesday, police attended the Warrawong area where the accused was located and arrested.
He has been charged with robbery armed with an offensive weapon and steal motor vehicle.
He was bail refused and will appear before Port Kembla Local Court on Thursday morning.
15-year-old male from Albion Park Rail charged with traffic matters
At 12.30pm on Wednesday, police were patrolling around Oak Flats in an unmarked car.
They observed a young person on an unregistered motorbike on Central Avenue riding along the footpath, not wearing a helmet.
Police signalled the young person to stop, however he continued to proceed along Central Avenue until the lights and sirens of the police vehicle were activated.
The young person has been charged with ride unregistered vehicle, ride uninsured vehicle, unlicensed rider and not wear helmet.
He will appear before Port Kembla Children’s Court on October 26.
