Shellharbour City Council will consider the sale of the current administration building, Lamerton House, adjoining land Lot 3000 and part of Benson Basin at an extraordinary meeting this Thursday, May 28.
Lamerton House and Lot 3000 in the Shellharbour City Centre will make up part of the funding model for the controversial Shellharbour City Hub development.
Recently, general manager Michael Willis confirmed Stockland and council had an existing agreement on the sale of Lamerton House and Lot 3000, but this did not include the sale of part of Benson Basin.
The sale of the 9.3 hectare piece of land on Wattle Road (a portion of Benson Basin) was a resolution of council last year as part of a Voluntary Planning Agreement with Project 7200 developers. Council said the portion of this land was considered surplus to council's requirements and was to be sold.
Thursday's meeting will be closed to the public to allow councillors to debate commercial details, options and strategies, "without prejudicing the council's commercial interest and protect the public interest".
The City Hub design includes a new council chamber and administration centre, along with a city library and museum, auditorium, civic plaza and community meeting areas.
Mr Willis said the final decision on the hub proposal was anticipated to be within the next 60 days pending a finalised price for the development by council's contractor ADCO.
The meeting will be held at 6.30pm at the council chambers on the ground floor of Lamerton House, Shellharbour City Centre on Thursday 28 May. Business papers can be viewed here.
