An 80-year-old woman was evacuated from a home in Cathedral Rocks Avenue, due to fears of a landslide.
About 10pm on Tuesday police were advised a potential landslide risk to two homes on Cathedral Rocks Avenue.
Police from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command attended, evacuating an 80-year-old woman from one of the homes.
The other home was not occupied.
The resident was assisted by police. She was uninjured and safe with relatives.
Train times and travel in the area were affected, with trains not travelling between Kiama and Shellharbour.
Following the incident, Kiama MP Gareth Ward inspected land slippage and restoration works from residences at Cathedral Rocks Avenue.
He said he had made representations to Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance and met with Kiama council regarding the matter.
Mr Ward said he had inquired about the permanency of the works.
He also inquired about drainage, with a view to mitigating the chance of such an incident happening again, and whether any planned or required works could be expedited.
A Kiama council spokesperson said they were anxious to see works carried out to address the slip problem, and are working with Railcorp by providing any information which may assist with the development of a solution.
