The Gerringong Music Club concert Young Illawarra Stars takes place on Sunday, May 3.
The concert features young musical stars from the Illawarra - Anna da Silva Chen, violin; York Yu, piano; and Cedar-Rose Newman and Lina Lee on violin.
Anna da Silva Chen is an 18-year-old violinist studying at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music who has recently achieved national success performing with the Sydney Symphony and other major orchestras.
She was a grand finalist of the ABC Symphony Australia Young Performers Awards in 2014 and is the winner of many prizes and awards.
Among her successes was her recent performance at Parliament House in the presence of the Governor-General Peter Cosgrove and the then NSW Governor Marie Bashir.
York Yu is 17-years-old and also studies at the SCM.
An exceptionally talented young pianist, his notable achievements include being overall winner at the Ku-rin-gai competition, keyboard finalist at the ABC Young Performers award and numerous prizes at Wollongong, Sydney, Shoalhaven and national eisteddfods.
York's program includes pieces by Liszt, Chopin and Beethoven.
Cedar-Rose Newman and Lina Lee are local 11-year-old students showing promise as violinists.
They will perform together J. S. Bach's Concerto for 2 violins in D Minor (Movements 2 and 3).
Cedar-Rose plays solos, duets, is part of a quartet and a member of the BlueScope Steel Orchestra.
Cedar-Rose also studies the piano and she is a member of the senior choir at the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music.
Lina Lee attends The Illawarra Grammar School where she plays in the senior orchestra, and last year won the Junior Championships String Solo Award at the Wollongong Eisteddfod.
Lina is also involved with the BlueScope Steel Orchestra, Sydney Youth Orchestra and a chamber group.
The concert takes place on Sunday, May 3, in Gerringong Town Hall at 2pm.
Tickets are $15, available at the door from 1.30pm.
