About 4am on Thursday, the victim, a 42-year-old man from Warilla contacted police stating that he had been stabbed in the neck by a 40-year-old man who also lived at the same address.
Police attended immediately.
The victim described the weapon that he was stabbed with as a large knife.
Ambulance officers attended and the victim taken to the Wollongong Hospital by ambulance with a deep laceration to his neck.
Investigation of the incident commenced immediately.
Detectives, Forensic Services officers and a Dog Unit were called.
The suspect for this incident was located with the assistance of the police dog and has been arrested.
The scene is currently being examined.
*Arrest and charge of two men for break-and-enter offences
Lake Illawarra Police on Wednesday arrested and charged a 22-year-old man from Blackbutt and a 20-year-old man from Warilla with numerous aggravated break and enter offences. Between March 24 and April 6, licensed premises and businesses were broken into and property and cash stolen.
Investigations into each of the break and enters identified the offenders.
The men were arrested and charged with 12 counts of aggravated break and enter and one charge of steal from a person.
The men were bail refused and were due to appear before Port Kembla Local Court this morning.
*Oak Flats man charged with drug, weapon and property offences
About 9.35pm on Wednesday, police attended Wyllie Road, Kembla Grange in relation to a radio message regarding an unrelated matter.
As police were driving down Wyllie Road, they sighted a car parked on the southern side of the road.
The accused, a 35-year-old man from Oak Flats was seated in the driver’s seat of the vehicle. Police stopped and spoke with the accused.
Police conducted checks on the man, which revealed recent intelligence information for drugs.
The man and the car were then searched.
The man had bank cards in his wallet which were owned by a third person.
Allegedly tucked away in a baby seat in the car was a clear resealable plastic bag containing a crystal substance which the man stated was “ice”.
Police continued to search the vehicle and located a 40cm long wooden handle with a number of nails driven into the top and grey duct tape wrapped around the base end, to form a type of weapon.
Police also located a grey and black balaclava and bolt cutters in a bag in the boot of the vehicle.
The man has been charged with possess prohibited drug, goods in custody suspected of being stolen and custody of an offensive implement.
He will appear before Port Kembla Local Court on May 13.
*Affray – Albion Park
On April 15, the victim, a 41-year-old man from Albion Park and a 16-year-old male offender from an unknown location had been arguing on Facebook.
About 7.40pm the 16-year-old male along with about 10 other males attended the home of the victim in Barwon Place.
A fight commenced whereby the victim was knocked to the ground and then punched and kicked by several other males.
Family and friends of the victim then tried to stop the fight and were assaulted.
The incident continued on to Severn Place where the offenders had their cars parked.
Police were called and attended immediately.
A canvass of the area was also conducted with neighbours.
The investigation in relation to this matter is continuing.
The victim sustained broken teeth and bruising to the face and body.
