Lake Illawarra Police Citizens Youth Clubs (PCYC) held its annual fund-raising event, Time4Kids, at Stockland Shellharbour last week.
The event is in its seventh year and comes as part of National Youth Week celebrations.
The day brings together community leaders, business people, sports stars, local police officers and celebrity volunteers who are placed "under arrest" to do time to stop youth crime.
Volunteers are tasked with raising a minimum of $500 bail to secure their release.
Club manager Rosanna Cepero said it was a chance to promote club activities and simultaneously stub out any myths about the club.
"Sometimes there is the stigma that PCYC is just for the naughty kids," she said.
"But we help all types of people from all different backgrounds, all the way from toddlers through to seniors.
"We have had a whole different bunch of local businesses that have got on board and help us raise money.
"All the proceeds raised from today will go to the PCYC programs and promoting what we do."
Ms Cepero said they had already raised $3000 towards their final goal of $10,000.
The PCYC offer programs for young people that focus on leadership, building characters and reducing crime by and against young people.
