It's expected there will be plenty of fish about for competitors, with blue marlin expected to be around the famous "Kiama Canyons," while striped and black marlin should be found in closer on the 60 fathoms reefs and The Banks.
Tiger, whaler and hammerhead sharks will also be in the mix for shark fisherman, while mahi mahi have been around in large numbers and should provide some hot light tackle action.
"The great game fishing off Kiama has been highlighted by the annual tournament that attracts fishing tourists not only at tournament time but throughout the year, and injects income into local businesses," Kiama Game Fishing Club president Mark Way said.
The tournament will have both capture and tag-and-release categories, and more than 90 per cent of fish caught during the competition are expected to be released.
This year's tournament is expected to feature some strong boat crews, with Kiama based Pro-Fish-Ent coming off a good win in the Jess Sams Tournament at Ulladulla recently, while Off Tap from Jervis Bay and Snoop-n-Round are always strong competition.
There are plenty of other boats entered who will be looking to win Champion Boat and a share in thousands of dollars in prizes, including Shimano Tiagra reels and $1000 cash for Heaviest Marlin.
There are 18 prize categories in total, including Senior Male, Senior Female, Juniors and Small Fry.
Weigh in will be from 5pm on Saturday and 3pm on Sunday at Kiama Harbour Weigh Station.
