The renowned Sydney drummer, who recently finished a PhD at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, has put together a line-up that includes award-winning pianist Matt McMahon, bassist Cameron Undy and guitarist Peter Koopman.
But Goodman is the star of the show. As a session player, he has recorded music for television and radio commercials as well as film. Goodman has also performed with international artists, including Thelma Houston, Molly Ringwald and Bob Berg.
"Dave Goodman is a genius of drums," Conservatorium jazz studies director Eric Dunan said.
"He has played here with numerous bands in the past, and heaps of drummers come out to these shows. We feel super excited that this will be the premier performance of his own band."
■The March 13 concert at the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music Auditorium, Gleniffer Brae, starts at 7pm. Tickets cost $15/$12 and $10 online at wollcon.com.au or $20/$15/$10 at the door.
