ALTHOUGH Oak Flats Falcons FC lost by a goal to Premier League team Cringila Lions in the Frat Cup clash on Friday night, coach Michael Garcia and his coaching staff were proud of their whole team's effort at Wetherall Park Primbee.

Several changes to the Falcons squad were made compared to the previous trials, with regular goal-keeper Brendon Jovanovski back and giving a solid back-up role to his defence while three youth graders, Justin Beregshasy, Des Baros and Sam Markoulis, got their chance against top class Premier League opposition.
The Falcons' coach pursued his policy of blending youngsters ready for first grade as the club has a pool of youngsters ready to take the challenge.
The winning goal came in the 26th minute after a scramble in front of goal.
In the first half Cringila looked quick and smooth, showing enormous pace before the Falcons settled down and matched their opponents, even creating some scoring chances.
The Falcons deserved to be praised for a great performance and putting pressure on Cringila, a long-time Premier League side.
At the final whistle the large crowd applauded the Oak Flats Falcons. It was probably the better fitness and better ball control which resulted in success for the Premier League outfit.
