LIFE has been made a little bit easier for the Bendigo Bank Aerial Patrol, thanks to a timely injection of funds.
In a rare show of bipartisanship, Kiama MP Gareth Ward and Shellharbour MP Anna Watson last week handed over $18,000 to the patrol.
Bendigo Bank Aerial Patrol general manager Harry Mitchell said the funding would allow the organisation to upgrade their hangar and office facilities.
"We built the hangar in 1988 and it hasn't been upgraded since, and this money means we can do that without dipping into our operational budget," he said.
"We need to put in some floodlights that meet environmental standards, rewire the entire electrical system in the hangar and our office facilities need some work done as well, and we're happy to see both sides of politics here to support us."
Ms Watson said the aerial patrol provided a service that crosses the party divide.
"The aerial patrol is something that serves all of our constituents," Ms Watson said.
"It's good that we can have some bipartisan funding and help out an organisation that provides one of the valuable services needed in the area."
Mr Ward echoed Ms Watson's sentiments.
"The reality is that members of parliament are often bipartisan and work together, and this is one of those instances," he said.
"I'm happy to be here today with the Member for Shellharbour to jointly allocate this funding.
"Harry Mitchell and the rest of the patrol do a great job and hopefully this funding will allow them to continue."
