OAK Flats Falcon's newly established under-20 Youth Grade team went through their first outing in the FRAT Cup contest against Thirroul FC at Fernhill last Saturday under the guidance of new coach Mark Tyssen.

They were eventually defeated in the last two minutes when a misunderstanding in defence allowed the ball trickle over the line for a 1-0 loss.
Thirroul FC were last year's grand final winners and Oak Flats did well to contain their tactics, providing a learning experience for the Falcons. The coaching staff also gained valuable knowledge.
In general the young Falcons competed well and considering they had only four players from last season, Mark Tyssen and members of the club coaching staff were pleased with the performance of all the players.
Next Saturday the Falcons play again at Fernhill against premier league competition Dapto/Dandaloo at 1pm.
No doubt the coaching staff will correct short-comings in systems and structure.
The signs of a successful team are positive and more trials will help find a way to success.
