WITH regards to some of the comments from the Shellharbour City Council general manager and mayor about wanting to provide better services for the expected growth in population by 2031, the easiest option would be to look at the leases they have with the tenants under Lamerton House and when they are up for renewal do not renew them, and use space for extra staff if so required.

After all, the NSW population has grown considerably during the past 50 years and I have not seen any development applications for a new Parliament House just because the population has grown. (Imagine the uproar this would cause.)
Just because there are increases in population does not mean that there is a need to increase council chambers.
If that was the case, then by 2031 they would want another, bigger Taj Mahal.
