Previously, community grants have enabled great projects such as a refugee exchange program, music albums, theatre productions, art festivals, environmental work, cultural art and much more. These projects enrich our community and often leave a legacy for future generations.
Southern Phone Company has just announced that the Kiama Municipality has been selected as an area which is eligible for their grant scheme.
This means that grants up to $25,000 for community-based projects are on offer for the Kiama area.
Kiama Council is responsible for collating and submitting the grant applications. So now all we need is your great ideas for community-based projects that will benefit our area.
Southern Phone Company hopes to fund a number of community-based projects with the grant funding.
The funds may only be used to provide a physical asset for, or service to, the local community within the council's local government area.
Funding will generally be provided to legally constituted, not-for-profit, non-political and non-advocacy community groups or organisations. Some relevant examples may include community groups that are responsible for health care, aged care, child care, sports clubs, youth clubs and preservation of the environment or local heritage.
If you are unsure please contact the Southern Phone Grants project office on 02 6766 5222 to discuss ideas prior to submitting the application.
Successful grants will be announced by Southern Phone Company before the end of the year, with money dispersed by June 2015.
If you are interested in submitting a grant application ring 02 4232 0444 or drop in to the council administration centre at 11 Manning Street, Kiama.
We will give you a copy of the guidelines plus the terms and conditions.
Applications close at 4pm on Friday, November 14.
