About 2.05 pm on October 7 the victim, a 15-year-old Oak Flats boy was riding his scooter along Wentworth Street, Oak Flats.
At the time the young person, a 16-year-old from Keiraville was riding a bicycle along Wentworth Street.
The young person rode his bike in front of the victim.
The offender got off his bike and walked towards the victim.
He punched the victim in the face three times, before getting on his bike and riding away.
An older male came from a nearby house to check on the victim’s welfare.
About 3.30pm on October 16 the victim and a friend exited a takeaway store on Central Avenue, Oak Flats and noticed the young person outside with his fists clenched, looking at him.
The Keiraville teenager had six to eight friends behind him as he approached the victim.
The young person punched the victim to the left cheek bone, and then immediately used his right fist to punch the victim to the same cheek bone and eye socket.
An independent witness yelled out that she was calling the police, and the offender left.
The victim attended Shellharbour Hospital.
About 11.05pm on October 16, police attended the Oak Flats Railway Station where they observed the young person standing near the platform.
Police arrested and charged him with assault occasion actual bodily harm and common assault.
*Drink driving offender crashes at Gerringong Cemetery
About 5pm on Sunday, the accused, a 36-year-old Moss Vale woman, attempted to reverse her vehicle into a car space at the Gerringong Cemetery car park.
The accused was towing a horse float, with a horse inside.
As the accused reversed her vehicle, the nearside of the horse float collided with the rear of a vehicle parked and unattended in the cemetery car park.
After the collision the accused drove her vehicle forward into a car space that faced south and parked.
The incident was witnessed and police were contacted.
The accused was spoken to by police and admitted to the collision.
She was subjected to a road side breath test which proved positive, then cautioned and arrested before being conveyed to Lake Illawarra Police Station.
A breath analysis returned a positive reading in the mid-range PCA category. The accused was issued with a licence suspension notice and served a Field Court Attendance Notice to attend Kiama Local Court on December 1.
*Barrack Heights man driving unlicensed and possessing knives at Kiama Downs
At 4pm on Sunday, police were patrolling north along Riverside Drive, Kiama Downs when they observed a Blue Ford Laser broken down, obstructing northbound traffic.
Police stopped behind the vehicle and conducted a transport check on the registration, revealing that the vehicle registration was cancelled by the RMS last February, and that the vehicle details did not match the plates attached.
Police conducted checks on the VIN number of the vehicle, which confirmed that the registration had been cancelled by the RMS in 2000.
Police conducted an external check of the vehicle and observed inside it numerous screw drivers, Allen Keys, a bolt cutter, gloves, dark clothing and two kitchen knives.
Police obtained the identification of the driver, a 40-year-old Barrack Heights man, and searched the car, seizing two knives.
The accused is now charged with the matters before the court.
*Storm causes single car accident at Gerroa
About 7.30pm on October 14 a 36-year-old Shoalhaven Heads woman was driving her 1999 Kia sedan south on Crooked River Road, Gerroa. At the time the weather was extreme with high winds and heavy rain.
About 200 metres south of the Crooked River Road Bridge a tree adjacent to the road fell across power-lines and onto the road in front of her car.
The driver was unable to avoid colliding with the tree, and the vehicle suffered significant damage to the front end.
Police and Rural Fire Service attended the location and the tree was removed.
The vehicle required towing, with no injuries reported.
*Flinders man exceeds speed limit while licence suspended
About 8.02am on October 14, police observed a white coloured Subaru travelling in the northbound lanes on the M1 Motorway, Dapto.
Police estimated the speed of this vehicle to be in excess of the sign-posted speed limit.
The vehicle speed was detected at 121 kilometres/hour.
Police stopped the accused, a 48-year-old Flinders man and prior to speaking with the accused a check on the registration was made via the in-car computer.
It was revealed that the accused’s NSW Driver’s Licence is endorsed as being suspended.
When questioned as to why he was driving while his licence is suspended, the accused replied, “I need to get to work”.
The accused was aware of his licence suspension, and made full and free admissions about driving while being suspended.
He was informed that he would be receiving a Future Court Attendance Notice for the offences of drive while suspended and exceed speed.
*Noise abatement direction issued to Kiama resident
Police responded to a noise complaint in McFaul Place, Kiama at 5.05am on Monday, October 20.
As they approached the residential property they could hear loud music playing and the occupier yelling. The occupier, a 34-year-old Kiama man, had previously been given a formal warning on October 19 for noise breaches.
Police spoke with the occupier and issued a noise abatement direction, which will remain in force for 28 days.
