The Crows were founded in 2007 - taking the field in 2008.
They won the same award in their inaugural season when they had about 90 players.
Since then the club numbers then dwindled and they were struggling to stay afloat.
But a new committee and new enthusiasm saw the club rebound.
Player numbers in 2014 doubled to about 75 players and they fielded five teams.
"Our 14s formed a combined team with Wollongong Lions and we also had under 13s, under 10s, under 9s and Auskick and our overall plan is to push the numbers up to 100 next year," Mr Cooper said.
"One of the highlights this year was that we had four Illawarra representatives, while we have already had a lot of interest from new players, so things are really looking up.
"We have also had some tremendous support from Marcus Hollingsworth and the Shellharbour Swans senior club, which is most appreciated."
