Council is working on several projects at Kiama Harbour and Blowhole Point, providing better facilities and giving the popular area a much-needed facelift.
Construction of a link road to connect the harbourside road with the Blowhole Point Road began in August.
A pedestrian footpath will also be built alongside the harbour.
Council's director of engineering and works Bryan Whittaker said the concrete had been poured for the link road, with works expected to be completed within the next few weeks.
The road would allow the establishment of the one-way access, and a few new parking bays in the lower section will also be created.
"The next job will be the construction of the separated walkway along the harbour from the Scout Hall to the rockpool," Mr Whittaker said.
The refurbishment of the amenities block at Blowhole Point rockpool has commenced. The aged building will be upgraded to include disabled person access to the showers and toilets.
The outside of the building will be rendered, and a new roof facade, lockable gates, landscaping and outdoor shower installed.
Mr Whittaker said the works were expected to be completed by November.
Council will also install a new playground at Blowhole Point near the tennis courts by the end of this year.
These projects will be completed with the assistance of $400,000 from the federal government's Community Development Grants Program.
Mr Whittaker said due to an upgrade of the load-carrying capacity of the wharf near Cargo's restaurant, the wharf would be periodically closed until its estimated completion at the end of October. He asked for everyone to be patient while the work was being done.
