The funding, which was allocated from the government’s Public Reserves Management Fund Program, will be used to upgrade the the public announcment system at the showground.
‘‘It’s great news for the showground and great news for the show society, the rugby club and all the other groups and events that are held at the showground,’’ Mr Ward said.
‘‘The upgrade will make the PA system much more user friendly for those groups and improve the event that are held at the showground for organisers and those in attendance.’’
Mr Ward said the funding was awarded after the Showground Committee made an application to the Public Reserves Management Fund Program, which was something he was happy to support.
Kiama Show Society president Dave Young said the funding was extremely welcome given the state of the current PA system.
‘‘This announcement is great news for the Kiama Show Society as the funding will provide a much needed upgrade of the Showground PA system,’’ he said.
‘‘It is also great news for our partners in the submission Kiama Rugby League Club, Kiama Rugby Club and the Kiama Sports Council who will all benefit from the new facilities.’’
Kiama Mayor Brian Petschler echoed Mr Young and thanked Mr Ward for his support in securing the funding.
