AN 88-year-old Shellharbour man has suffered serious head and spinal injuries after being hit by a car in Shellharbour on Tuesday, August 5.

About 4.40pm on Tuesday an 88-year-old man was crossing Bass Street when he collided with a Hyundai sedan travelling west.
The man struck the bonnet of the car, before being thrown onto the ground.
The 49-year-old female driver of the sedan stopped at the scene and contacted emergency services.
The injured man was treated by Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to Wollongong Hospital in a serious condition, with head and spinal injuries.
The female driver from Barrack Heights was taken to Shellharbour Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.
Officers attached to Lake Illawarra Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene and are continuing investigations into the incident.
