A 46 year old Bellambi woman will face Port Kembla Local Court Next Month after being caught driving while her licence is disqualified at Albion Park Rail.
Police allege they stopped the woman on the Princes Highway at Albion Park Rail on Wednesday, July 23 for a random breath test.
While the test was negative, checks revealed the woman’s licence is endorsed as disqualified.
Further checks revealed that the woman had been stopped by police at Yallah around four hours earlier and issued with a Field Court Attendance Notice and ordered not to drive.
The woman was charged at Lake Illawarra Police Station and will face court on August 13.
Firearms surrendered
A Gerringong resident has surrendered two unregistered firearms to Lake Illawarra Police after finding them during a clean-up. The resident was cleaning up a deceased estate when the .22 calibre Lithgow repeating rifle and .177 calibre Benjamin Franlin model 347 air rifle were discovered.
The firearms were surrendered on Thursday, July 17 and will be destroyed by the Weapons & Ordinance Disposal Unit.
Steal from motor vehicle
On Tuesday, July 22 a 32 year-old Nowra man and his wife parked their black Mazda at Seven Mile beach at around 2.30pm.
When the couple returned to their car a short time later they found the rear passenger-side window had been smashed and a number of objects including a video camera, handbag and wallet were stolen.
People have been reminded to not leave valuables in unattended vehicles.
Vehicle used to resist arrest
A 20 year-old Warilla man has been charged with two counts of resisting arrest and one count of using a vehicle/weapon to avoid arrest after police were called to a car park at Shellharbour Road, Warilla on July 18.
Police attended the car park after receiving a number of 000 calls claiming that vehicles in the car park were being damaged.
When police arrived it is alleged the 20 year-old man was sitting in the front passenger’s seat of a vehicle with extensive damage to its front end.
Upon seeing police, it is alleged the man put took control of the car from the female sitting in the driver’s seat and put the vehicle into reverse.
A female officer who was standing next to the open driver’s door was allegedly struck by the vehicle.
The car then stalled and the man was apprehended.
Costly night out
A 21 year-old Werri Beach man has been issued with an infringement notice after an incident at licensed premises in Kiama on on July 12.
The man attended the licensed premises with a number of other males and tried to gain entry, at this point his license was scanned and the hotel’s database informed security the man was banned from the premises.
Following this the man was told to move on, but instead he ran into to the premises.
Security located the man in the beer garden area and removed him.
Police attended the taxi rank across the road from the premises later in the night and observed a brawl. The excluded male was found to be involved and the manger of the licensed premises identified him to police for the prior offence.
Kiama man arrested
In the early hours of July 13, police were alerted to a number of people fighting inside a licensed premises in Kiama.
Upon entering the premises police allege a 22 year-old Kiama man was struggling with security guards.
Police placed the man under arrest, but allege he then tried to break away from police to join a nearby altercation.
Alleging that the man continued his attempts to break free, police dispersed Oleoresin spray and then hand-cuffed the man
Car stolen Minnamurra
Car owners have been reminded not to leave their keys in their vehicles after a car was stolen from the garage of a house on Robinson Avenue, Minnamurra.
Sometime between 10pm on July 14 and 7am on July 15, an unknown number of people broke into the garage while the owners were asleep upstairs.
The keys to a white Holden Commodore station wagon were left in the ignition and the offenders made off with the vehicle.
Car vandalised
A Flinders man has had the words ‘‘DOG’’ and ‘‘SCUM’’ spray painted on his Toyota Landcruiser after parking it on the street in front of his house. The man secured the car in front of his house on Tabourie Street, Flinders before heading to the pub for the afternoon at around 1.30pm on July 13.
At around 6pm the man’s wife was informed by a neighbour that the vandalism had occurred.
The man returned at around 6.30pm and reported the matter to police who observed the damage and took the victim’s details.
Police Pursuit in Warilla
Police are on the lookout for the male driver of a vehicle involved in a alleged pursuit through Warilla on the night of July 12. Police allege the driver of a purple Holden Commodore with ACT registration ignored a request to stop on King Street, Warilla for a random breath test.
Police allege the car stopped at the intersection of King Street and Tallon Street before again fleeing police.
Police followed the car east along Lake Entrance Road where a pursuit started.
Police eventually found the car abandoned on Cassia Street.
Upon searching the car, police found documents identifying possible offenders and seized a mobile phone and wallet.
A short time later police arrested a 24 year-old male from Mt Warrigal and 22 year-old woman from Queanbeyan who are alleged to be passengers in the vehicle.
During an interview the 22 year-old woman disclosed the indentity of the alleged driver who is now wanted by police.
