DOG owners have been reminded to head to Black Beach on Saturday for Kiama Council’s Canine Carnival.

Organised by council rangers, the event is being run to showcase Kiama as a canine-friendly area and also give dog owners some advice about how to best look after their four-legged friends.

Dog owners will be able to get to know the council rangers and be given the opportunity to ensure their details are up to date in case their dog is impounded as well as receive information about the various legislation that covers dog ownership.

Special events on the day include an agility dog training show by the Dapto South Coast Training Club and a dog tricks show run by Tony Mitchell from the Wollongong Sports Dog Club.

The stars of The Lifestyle Channel’s new program, The Village Vets, Anthony Bennett and James Carroll will hold a presentation and question and answer session that will include their top 10 tricks for looking after dogs in winter and prizes and giveaways.

The Canine Carnival will be held from 10am-2.30pm on Saturday, all dogs must be on a leash and under the supervision of some at least 16 years old.
