A WOMAN will face court after allegedly enlisting children to commit shoplifting offences in Illawarra during the past month.
Since June 2014 detectives attached to the Lake Illawarra Local Area Command have investigated shoplifting offences in the local area.
Investigations led detectives to believe a 33-year-old woman had allegedly recruited juveniles to commit these offences.
At 10am on Tuesday (July 14) police searched a Lake Illawarra home where they located and seized items alleged to have been stolen, as well as cannabis and nunchuks.
The woman was arrested at the scene and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station.
Further investigations led police to arrest a 14-year-old boy at a home in Barrack Heights, who was also taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station.
The woman has been charged with larceny (x6), recruit child to take part or assist in criminal activity (x4), offensive conduct and goods suspected stolen in/on premises.
She has been granted condition bail, to appear at Port Kembla Local Court on Wednesday, August 6
The boy has been charged with six offences including larceny. He was refused bail, to appear in children’s court today, (Thursday, July 17).
Investigations continue.
