This was not a triple-figure bloodbath but the Giants fans who gave up a Saturday afternoon for the footy deserved better.

The final margin of 68 points was kind to the Giants - they lost 20.20 (140) to 9.18 (72). At times it appeared as if they had taken a trip down memory lane so shoddy was their disposal.

More than half of Adelaide's score, 78 points to be precise, came from the Giants' turnovers coming from their back half.

"Good luck with trying to win a game doing that," Cameron said. "That was the most damning statistic of the entire game."

How the Giants must wish they had Heath Shaw rebounding from their back half rather than nursing a sore head in the stands.

"He's one player, but we did miss his polish and direction," Cameron said.

Time after time the young Giants butchered the ball. If they were not turning it over they were placing their teammates under pressure by sitting the ball on their heads.

So contagious was the disease, even the normally silky smooth Lachie Whitfield was guilty.

"It wasn't one player, it was a combination of nearly the entire side," Cameron said.

"When they had an opportunity to pull the trigger, they missed the target, went back into their shell, went long down the line when they shouldn't have."

When the Giants did get the ball out of danger, they were let down by some horrible kicking for goal, highlighted by 10 consecutive behinds before they had their first goal.

Expansion has not been kind to Adelaide but they must wish they can take the Giants with them everywhere, having now won their five games by an average margin of 86 points.

Their latest Giants annihilation was built on the dominance of Rory Sloane, who had a game-high 32 possessions, and the continued strong form of Sam Jacobs, who had the measure of Shane Mumford when the game was up for grabs.

Eddie Betts, with five goals, was clearly the best forward, proving far too classy for Zac Williams, who would not have encountered an opponent of such quality in the NEAFL.

"He's worth every cent we're paying him," said coach Brenton Sanderson of the Crows' high-priced recruit.

While victory was expected for Adelaide, they were not helped by having to sub out Ben Rutten early in the first term. They were dealt another blow shortly after time when Patrick Dangerfield hurt his knee. He returned but spent much of the second half playing as a forward.

The Giants had few winners though but Dylan Shiel and Adam Treloar could hold their heads high while Tim Mohr won his duel with Taylor Walker.

Jeremy Cameron had another off day, managing just one goal and six possessions against a ruthless Daniel Talia.

For a team which had attributed their recent form spike to their team defence, the signs were ominous early for the Giants.

It was not so much missed tackles which hurt but more so the times when they could not get close enough to lay a glove on the Crows, particularly from the kick-ins.

Both teams were playing a spare man behind the play but it was the Crows who were able to use their extra number with greater effect.

Having waited until the 12-minute mark before breaking their duck, the Giants kicked a second goal four minutes later and suddenly they were in the hunt against a Crows side which had dropped off slightly.

This proved a false dawn as the Crows slammed the next four goals, including two to Betts, who was proving a headache for Williams.

The Giants enjoyed their best period shortly after the long break with quick goals to Rhys Palmer and Williams but any hopes for an upset were soon dashed.
