As part of Tuesday's retune of SBS in the Illawarra region, there has been technical issues affecting power supply to ABC and SBS services at the Knights Hill transmission tower.
The morning before the start of football's World Cup, SBS services have been restored.
A spokeswoman for the Department of Communications said technicians had worked round the clock to fix the problem.
She said homes were experiencing about 95 per cent of usual ABC coverage but technicians were confident they had isolated the problem and it would be rectified "shortly".
Once services have been restored, viewers will be able to retune their TV to receive the full range of digital TV channels. If viewers have already retuned, they may have to retune again.
All other services are not affected.
For more information about the retune visit the website, www.digitalready.gov.au/retune, or call the Digital Ready Information Line on 1800 20 10 13.
